ABOUT RANCHO DE LAS TRES POTRANCAS
Every inch of this Ranch has a story…
We started the apple orchard with 12 trees Mario brought for Christmas… nursed until the weather warmed and planted in our backyard. The turkeys were a Mother’s Day gift for Ainsley. Little “fillie” Eva negotiated and paid for our first two Nigerian dwarf goats, who screamed all the way home in the back of Mario’s truck. Now they think they’re cows! Even our fenceposts have a tale to tell — cut from our own 16-acres and so fresh that some have started to re-root back into the ground.
But the most important story is how we chose our name…
Las Tres Potrancas means “Three Little Fillies,” and fillies are strong and often-wild female horses. We wanted to honor our three smart, beautiful girls—Ofelia, Eva, Jorgiana—in the name of our Ranch. And we were eager to give them the character-building experience of running it with us.
From a young age, our girls have helped with every part of ranch life…
Learning entrepreneurship at the farm stand, practicing stewardship in caring for our flock of animals, and experiencing community by connecting directly to our little town and seeing how much we receive when we serve others.
